Ask any Malaysian what they love best about their country and 9 times out of 10, they will say "The Food!"

I am definitely one of the Malaysians who share that same sentiment. Being out of the country for long periods at a time make me appreciate the cuisine here even more, and i have been going crazy. From gobbling down Curry Laksa near the A1 Team Malaysia office, to late nights Nasi Kandar at Section 2 in PJ, it's been a food fest for me these last two weeks.

While my mouth has been loving it, my waist line has not.

For my driving i have to train a lot and i mean a lot. And i was always under the impression that as long as i was training, the weight would stay off. A sad misconception unfortunately, as growing older means the metabolism slows down a bit. In recent weeks i have been putting on the pounds a bit and i curse going thirty as it means i cannot eat with abandon.

So eating properly has become a priority. Cutting down on the nasi (rice) and other favourite carbs has been one of the most useful things i have done to help get the gut under control. And it's something i have to be strict about now.

We start a new season of A1GP on the 30th of September and i really need to lose weight before then. A1 Team Malaysia is going for the championship next year and it means it's drivers have to be lean and mean. The minimum weight in A1GP is with driver and car combined (695kg). The car weighs 625kg (give or take a kilo), which means that the driver needs to weigh 70kg if he wants to stay on the weight limit. I am 75kg at the moment, which translates to 5kg over the limit which also translates to a tenth and a half of a second slower per lap.

Oh well, i'm off for a run. Maybe if i go for an extra hour i can grap a bowl of Assam Laksa before bedtime. :)

Greetings.

Well i'm back in Malaysia now after a hectic 06/07 A1GP season. We at A1 Team Malaysia finished 6th in the championship with 3 wins which is pretty good, but i cannot help but feel we should have done better.

It's good to be home as i have been away so often over the last year. Not only is the weather great, i finally get to have all the stall food i could possibly want.

Anyway this is a test to see how this site drives. I'll be back when i have something more useful to say.

Alex
